The groom's cake originated as a southern tradition where a special cake was made reflecting the groom's interests, hobbies, occupation or favorite sports team, etc. Normally, the groom has the responsibility of hosting the rehearsal dinner or rehearsal party. The groom's cake is usually served at the dinner / party. It later became acceptable to have both a groom's cake and a bride's cake served together (but on separate tables) at the wedding reception. These cakes can be of the same flavor or entirely different flavors. (ex: vanilla, chocolate, almond, or even red velvet)
Check out some of the groom's cakes I've made located in the Specialty Cakes Photo Slideshow.
